I Left My Capo in the Car: Digital Survival Skills

You're on stage. The next song is "Here Comes the Sun." It requires a Capo on the 7th fret. You reach for your pocket. It's empty. You left your capo in the van. The chart says "D shape (Capo 7)." If you play a D chord without a capo, it will be in the wrong key. You have to mentally transpose D up to A major instantly.

The Old Way: Panic. Sweating. Playing the wrong chords and hoping nobody notices (they will).

The Bandfix Way: Transpose.

  1. Open the song in Bandfix.
  2. Tap Transpose.
  3. Change the key from "D (Capo 7)" to "A (No Capo)."

Bandfix rewrites the chart in the actual sounding key. You can now play the song using barre chords in the correct key without doing any mental math.

Pro Tip: Keep a spare capo in your guitar case. But keep Bandfix on your iPad just in case.
