Remote Control with a Bluetooth Pedal
Control Bandfix hands-free with a Bluetooth footswitch.
Connect Your Pedal
There are many Bluetooth pedals available. Bandfix supports most standard Bluetooth HID pedals. There are two major types of them you must be aware of:
- Standard HID Pedals: These pedals connect as standard Bluetooth keyboards.
- Custom HID Pedals: These pedals use a custom Bluetooth profile and require Bandfix to connect directly.
If you don't know which type your pedal is, start with Standard HID Pedals instructions below. If that doesn't work, try Custom HID Pedals.
Standard HID Pedals
Does your device function like a hardware keyboard? Most do. If so, then:
- Pair your pedal with your device using the system Bluetooth settings.
- In Live Mode, open the menu (top right corner) and tap 'Bluetooth Control'.
- Grant Bluetooth permissions if requested.
- Enable Bluetooth remote control in the dialog.
- Tap Add Device button and select Add Hardware Keyboard Device.
- Assign commands as described in the section below.
Custom HID Pedals
Do not pair your pedal in your device's system settings. Bandfix will handle pairing.
If your device doesn't function like a hardware keyboard, then:
- In Live Mode, tap the Bluetooth button (bottom-right). Or go to the menu (top right corner) and tap 'Bluetooth Control'.
- Grant Bluetooth permissions if requested.
- Enable Bluetooth remote control in the dialog.
- Turn on your pedal and tap 'Add Device'.
- Select Add Bluetooth Device.
- Select your pedal from the list and approve any pairing requests.
- Assign commands as described in the section below.
Assign Commands
- Tap the plus button (+) and select a command (e.g., 'Scroll Down').
- Press the footswitch you want to assign to that command. This command will flash green to indicate successful assignment.
- Repeat for other commands ('Scroll Up', 'Next Song', etc.).
- Tap 'Save'.
Bluetooth Button in Live Mode
There is a Bluetooth button at the bottom-right of the Live Mode screen that indicates the connection status.
This button will turn green when it's connected to your Bluetooth pedal and ready to process commands.
Troubleshooting
If your on-screen keyboard disappears while the pedal is connected, temporarily turn off the pedal or disable Bluetooth on your device to make it reappear. This is default behavior of Bluetooth HID devices on most operating systems, not specific to Bandfix.
