Importing Songs

Use the Explore tab to add songs to your band from many websites and sources.

Import from the Internet

We support importing songs from many popular websites. To import a song:

  1. Open Explore tab.
  2. Tap on 'Import Songs'.
  3. Select Import a song from the Internet.
  4. Search for song lyrics and chords online.
  5. Copy the link of the webpage you found into the field below.
  6. Click 'Import'
warning
  • The link must be publicly accessible and not require a login. Test this by opening the link in a private/incognito browser window.
  • Importing may not be 100% accurate depending on the website's structure. Always review the imported song and edit it for correctness. If importing is extremely inaccurate, please contact our support at support@bandfix.app.
  • You must own the legal rights to any content you import. You are responsible for the content you add to Bandfix.

Import from Documents

We support importing songs from many popular document formats (like Word, PDF, and text files). To import a song:

  1. Open Explore tab.
  2. Tap on 'Import Songs'.
  3. Select Import from Documents.
  4. Choose the document file from your device or cloud storage.
  5. Click 'Import'
warning
  • If you import a PDF, Bandfix may ask whether it is sheet music. If you confirm, it will be added as a PDF section in a new song (using the file name) without text extraction.
  • Importing may not be 100% accurate depending on the document's structure. Always review the imported song and edit it for correctness. If importing is extremely inaccurate, please contact our support at support@bandfix.app.
  • You must own the legal rights to any content you import. You are responsible for the content you add to Bandfix.

Import ChordPro Songs

You can import songs in ChordPro format (.cho, .crd, .chordpro, .chopro, .chord, .pro) from your device or cloud storage.

  1. Open Explore tab.
  2. Tap on 'Import Songs'.
  3. Select Import ChordPro songs.
  4. Tap on Import and select the ChordPro file from your device or cloud storage.

Bandfix imports ChordPro directly into its Lyrics & Chords rich text format.

Supported ChordPro formatting that Bandfix keeps:

  • Inline ChordPro chords moved into Bandfix chord lines above the lyrics, plus chord-only lines.
  • Bold, italic, and underline in lyrics.
  • Text color and highlight color in lyrics.
  • Bold, italic, underline, text color, and highlight color inside chord tokens.
  • textcolour, chordcolour, and choruscolour.
  • comment, comment_italic, comment_box, and highlight.
  • start_of_chorus, start_of_verse, start_of_bridge, start_of_tab, start_of_grid, and chorus recalls.
  • Inline annotations like [*Rit.].
  • Common metadata like title, subtitle, artist, key, tempo, and year.

ChordPro features Bandfix currently simplifies or skips:

  • Font family and font size changes.
  • Strikeout, subscript, superscript, links, symbols, and other unsupported markup.
  • Image directives and inline <img /> markup.
warning
  • Always review the imported song. Unsupported ChordPro formatting is flattened to plain text where possible so the song stays readable in Bandfix.
  • Images are skipped during import because Bandfix does not place ChordPro images inside lyrics yet.
  • If Bandfix shows a warning after import, some formatting was simplified or some images were skipped.
  • If importing is inaccurate, please contact our support at support@bandfix.app.

Import a Section While Editing a Song

You can also import content directly into an existing song while editing it.

  1. Open the song in edit mode.
  2. Tap Import section from... right below Add section.
  3. Choose Documents, Internet, or ChordPro.
  4. Complete the same import flow as usual for that source.
  5. Review the imported section and save the song.
warning
  • This adds the imported content to the current song instead of creating a new song.
  • If you import a PDF and confirm it is sheet music, Bandfix will add it as a PDF document section without text extraction.
  • Imported sections are added immediately, but the song is not updated until you save it.
